CBD Corner

Let's talk about dosing . . .

Most experts agree that when using CBD for the first time, starting with the lowest dose and gradually working your way up is the best.  Your body weight and individual chemistry affect how you tolerate CBD. How you take it also is a factor in determining how much you should take, how it is absorbed and how quickly it takes effect. What you are using it for also matters when determining how much you should take. CBD is usually well tolerated but there is still limited data on drug interactions.  CBD could change the way a drug is metabolized. There is some evidence that it may interact with blood thinners, immunosuppresants and antidepressants. For this reason, we recommend you consult with your medical provider before using CBD.

Question: How soon CBD will start to work?

Answer: This depends on how you take it.  Edibles, such as gummies and chews, have to go through your digestive system before they are absorbed.  Tinctures, on the other hand, may be taken sublingually and then get absorbed directly into your bloodstream.  The results are much quicker with this method.

Question: "I'm not feeling anything.  Should I take more?"

Answer: Not so fast. Start low and slow, and make sure you give the CBD ample time to work before taking more. The general rule of thumb is to stick with a low dose for about a week before increasing it. Another rule we use is 1-6 mg per 10 lbs of body weight. This is a wide variation and again one size doesn't fit all. It is important to find what works best for you!
